This years' Sponsored Walk at Barleylands takes place on Sunday 12th July and Castledon will be once again taking part, raising funds for our rescue. If you'd like to join us, we now have sponsor forms ready to send out Last year we had a lovely afternoon with a nice amble around the Barleylands grounds followed by a picnic with our hounds. So, if you'd like to join us please let me know and i'll get you a sponsor form and directions out to you. In order to qualify for our share of the Bonus Pot, we need to have someone to be a marshall. It's nothing strenuous - you just have to make sure that people know where they're going and don't get lost! Derek has very kindly done this for us for the past 2 years so we'd like to give him a break this year. Is there any kind person out there who would be happy to volunteer? - we'd be very grateful

Just 'bumping' this as the Sponsored Walk is getting closer. Here's hoping that the weather is just as it is today - bright but with a cooling breeze

I am hoping we will be able to make Sunday. We thought it might be a bit too much for Sophie so Harry was going to do the walk. Unfortunately we have just come back from the vets with him this morning with the diagnosis of a badly sprained toe. When they went out last thing yesterday evening there must have been a rabbit in the garden (they usually only come in daylight) and there followed a frantic chase which ended in the lucky rabbit escaping and Harry coming in limping . He is on painkillers and rest and a lot of TLC!!!! We hope to get Sophie to do a gentle walk so we can claim our sponsorship money

What time should we arrive for the walk on Sunday please? The walk starts at 1pm, so if we meet at around 12.30 that should give us enough time to sort ourselves out. If we meet over by the trees the same as last year, then we should be away from the big crowd (the trees are over on the right hand side as you enter Barleylands) I'll get there early and register Castledon - there's no need for anyone who's joining us to register as only one person needs to register for the whole group Feel really sad for Elsa as it would have been so nice for her to get out and meet up with other greyhounds after the trauma of losing her best mate, Polo. However, she's done a muscle in her back right leg and is unable to walk. She's under virtual house arrest and is only allowed out in the garden on a lead for 'comfort breaks' We did think about bringing her and one of us sitting with her in the van while the other of us walked, but we thought that this would distress her even more. So, Dale and Elsa will drop me off and poor old Dale will have to go back home and watch the German Motorcycle Grand Prix on TV (which he's really disappointed about. Not. ) The long range weather forecast says that it will be mostly cloudy and not too hot - ideal for walking! I'm not sure who else is planning on coming alomg but whoever is, i'll see you on Sunday!

We hope to be there as well. Not sure which dogs we will be bringing along. Fleur, as a Castledon dog has to come along. I wonder who has been really good and deserves an outing......? Looking forward to seeing all the hounds.

Thank you to everyone whose hounds brought them along to the walk yesterday We had a very pleasant stroll around Barleylands, a good old chat with friends followed by a nice picnic. So all in all a very enjoyable afternoon with the added bonus of raising some funds for Castledon! Thank you very much to everyone who sponsored us, too!
